Temporary Salary

There are many temp jobs out there for people looking for work. Temp jobs, or temporary jobs, are jobs usually obtained through an employment agency or program which people are really only contracted to work for a few months. While these often aren't the most desirable jobs, companies often need workers only for a short period of time to fill some task. For example, people are needed to work at call centers, help with filing, work in seasonal positions, or to janitorial work. Temporary salary can vary greatly depending on the job, and is often difficult to determine given that the rate of turnover is so high at these jobs. However, some jobs use temporary salary only to hold workers over while they put them to work and evaluate them to see if they are good candidates for potential permanent employment. If an employee is deemed a good fit for permanent employee at a temp job, he or she will already be ahead of the game at on the job training, be ready to complete any additional training, and be hungry to ditch that temp salary for a larger, more permanent one.

One industry that makes particular use of the temporary salary and temp industry is the banking industry. Especially during trying economic times, banks are constantly looking to find new investors, sell new loans or accounts, and are constantly recieivng calls where people are asking about their current accounts and trying to find out what happened to all their money. This is a prime place for temporary employment. With only minimal training and requiring very few qualifications, employees with this temporary jobs can make calls out of the bank's call center to people on a list and attempt to sell them different financial products such as loans, savings accounts, or investment packages.

Many young people enjoy temporary work despite the varying temporary salary and the unsteadiness of the work because it provides them with flexibility and constant change. When people take on temporary jobs, they are only looking for money just then, and don't have to worry about career implications or future aspirations involving that company. In a way, people are basically working for themselves, just being payed a different temporary salary by a different temporary job each time. Of course, employers are less likely to put a lot of effort into taking care of temporary employee's needs or health benefits as they might for a permanent employee, but that comes with the territory and most are willing to accept this as just being a fact of the situation. They consider it a trade off for the ease of obtaining employment and the low level of commitment one has to put towards the job or company.

Farming is another example of people earning a temporary salary. Although it is less common now that most farms are owned by large corporate farming conglomerates, and advanced farming equipment and techniques have made it possible for fewer workers to do the agricultural work it used to take many workers to do, there are still quite a few farm workers in the United States. Basically, workers travel to different farms where they are given lodging and pay in order to help for the season and harvest and plant a new crop. This type of migrant working has been around for many, many years and the treatment of these workers, and of their factory worker counter parts has been the subject of much controversy over the history of the country. Books like "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair and "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck have immortalized the struggle of temp workers earning a temporary salary and being mistreated or suffering through poor conditions.

Temp jobs have their benefits and their drawbacks, and ultimately it is up to the person seeking employment how long they will continue to earn their temporary salary at any one particular job, or even how long they will follow the path of temporary employment. Temp work can be ugly and crushing, or it can be rewarding and low pressure. It all depends on your point of view and personality, and what you hope to get out of employment.
